Crystal E. Monds is a southern born creative merging the intrinsic cultural powers of visual arts and healing arts. This is a Black woman owned endeavor and a proud active supporter of the Movement for Black Lives.

Expanded from Out of Darkness Comes, CHROMA is a queer-Black-woman-healer led project that blends art with ancestral healing in an ongoing collaboration between visual artist Crystal Monds and choreographer Anicka Austin.

This is a color immersion project that explores the power and

use of color to elicit emotions and activate the chakras.

In Feb of 2016, CHROMA introduced the concept
of this project with a
Dessert Bar Preview, where Atlanta
was given a chance to see the performance progress,
meet the creators and the performers, and
experience a milder version of color-influenced movement.

In May of 2016, the debut show,
CHROMA: Spring was introduced in a transformed warehouse space with a 3-night show exploring the colors Blue, Orange, and Green, respectively.

After a previous feature in Creative Loafing, CHROMA was named
Best New Dance Troupe of 2016 and in November introduced Red, focusing on grounding, safety, and the effects of gentrification. This installation was presented as both the opening and closing shows for Elevate: Microcosm in conjunction with the City of Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs and alongside the gallery's all women's Sisters Song: Awaken exhibit.

This project is only halfway in and appreciates every donation, shout out, and opportunity to keep moving forward and healing through color.
